Delete your Housely account
Housely is operated by Housely LLC. This page explains how to delete your account, what deleting it removes, and what we keep.
Delete your account in the app
You can delete your account yourself at any time, without contacting us:
- Open the Housely app and sign in to the account you want to delete.
- Go to the Account tab.
- Scroll to Danger zone.
- Tap Close this account and follow the two confirmation prompts. The final prompt asks you to type CLOSE.
The request takes effect immediately. It cannot be undone, and we cannot restore a closed account.
Request deletion without the app
If you cannot sign in or no longer have the app installed, email privacy@housely.app from the email address on the account, with the subject Account deletion request. We use that address to verify the request, and we will confirm by email once the account is closed. If you write from a different address, we may ask you for additional information before we can act on the request.
Delete specific information without closing your account
You do not have to close your account to remove information from it. Signed in to the app, you can delete the records you created — items and their photos, videos and documents, notes, properties, jobs, service records, expenses, and similar entries — using the delete action on the record. Deleting a record removes it from your account.
If you want us to delete specific information that you cannot remove yourself, email privacy@housely.app from the email address on your account and describe what you would like deleted. We verify the request through that address and confirm by email when it is done. Your account stays open.
Two limits apply to both routes. We may keep the records listed under What we keepbelow where the law or an obligation requires it. And a record you created jointly with someone else — a completed job, an invoice, a service record shared with a household or a service business — remains part of that other party’s records, so removing it from your account does not remove it from theirs.
What deleting your account does
Closing your account deactivates it and irreversibly removes the information that identifies you — your name, email address, phone number, and profile photo. Your sign-in credentials stop working immediately and the account cannot be reopened or recovered.
We remove the personal data associated with your account except where we are required or permitted to keep it for the limited purposes listed below. Records you created jointly with someone else — a completed job, a service record, an invoice shared with a household or a service business — remain part of that other party’s account, because they are that party’s records too.
What we keep, and why
We keep the following for as long as the stated purpose requires, and no longer:
- Security and abuse-prevention records
- To detect and prevent fraudulent sign-ups, account takeover, and abuse of the service.
- Transaction, billing, and tax records
- To meet accounting, tax, and financial record-keeping obligations that apply to completed payments.
- Records needed for legal compliance
- To comply with applicable law, and to preserve information subject to a legal hold or lawful request.
- Records relevant to a dispute
- To resolve an open dispute, claim, or investigation, and to establish or defend legal claims.
- Terms-enforcement records
- To enforce our Terms of Service, including keeping an account from being re-created to evade a suspension.
- Encrypted backups
- Backups are kept on a rolling schedule for disaster recovery and expire on that schedule rather than on request.
- Shared work records created with others
- A job, service record, or invoice involving another household or service business remains part of that other party’s own records.
We do not use retained records to market to you after your account is closed.
